The Hardway Bet in Craps
Most craps players are familiar with the equivalent payout of most bets that can be found in the game, which is rather substantial. Like the 6 and 8, which has an equivalent payout of nine is to one and 4 or 10, which has an equivalent payout of seven is to one, but the payout will only be given when the result of the craps dice produces the same pair of numbers.
Like you have to roll a pair of two's (four), a pair of three's (six), a pair of four's or a (ten). A pair of one's (two) and a pair of sixes (12) is not considered as a hardway because that is the only possible way that they can come out from the dice roll. This situation means that if you wager on a hard 8 then you will only triumph in the game if a four-four comes out during the dice roll.
You will lose in the game if the dice produces a three-five or two-six combination. The situation is also the same with the other digits that do not possess the same numbers. How do top craps players make some profit from the hardways?
The actual probabilities of the hard six and eight are ten is to one the payout is only nine is to one, giving the casino facility a nine percent casino edge. The actual probability on the four and ten is eight is to one but the payout is only seven is to one, giving the house an eleven percent edge. But if hardways numbers only have one chance to be rolled by the dice then why the probabilities are are different from one another?
If each hardways digit achieves the same overall total (1 in thirty-six) as the two and twelve, then why are the probabilities not the same? The payout for the two/twelve is thirty is to one? Why do no hardways numbers pay a bigger amount? When you put down a wager for the two and the twelve, it is a wager for just one roll. If any other digit other than two or twelve comes out, then the craps player will automatically lose in the game.
The true probabilities of these wagers are thirty-five is to one since they only come out one time in thirty-six dice throws. The Hardway wagers will stay in place if any other number other than the number seven comes out during the dice throw. If the number seven or the soft digit comes out during the dice throw you can add to your wager by one dollar. So it is possible that you may possess different wagers on different digits.
Some shooters in the game try to scale down their losses by calling wagers "off" when six comes out during the roll to help scale down the occurrence of 7's. The wagers can also be called off on the initial roll when most players are hoping for a 7.
